Lindsey Dutelle, age 38, of Schenectady, suffered a pulmonary embolism - a blood clot in the lungs - in August 2023, according to a GoFundMe campaign.
The incident sent the “loving” wife and mother of three young children into cardiac arrest, resulting in brain damage due to a lack of oxygen.
In the weeks since, Dutelle, a special education teacher in the Scotia-Glenville Central School District, has been in the intensive care unit as medical bills pile up.
“Lindsey has a very long road to any sort of recovery and at this time requires extensive medical care," said campaign organizer Michelle Morgan.
Prior to joining the Scotia-Glenville Central School District in 2021, Dutelle spent over 15 years working as a special education and English teacher in the Albany area.
“Lindsey has spent her career helping others as an educator. A career that has been more than just a job, but a part of who she is in every way,” Morgan said.
Money raised from the GoFundMe will help Dutelle’s family cover hospital bills and other costs associated with her long-term care.
“We ask that you please share in the family’s hope and prayers that Lindsey will recover,” Morgan said.
